Defence top brass delves into KDU hospital’s functions

The State Minister of Defence Hon. Premitha Bandara Tennakoon together with the Defence Secretary and Chairperson of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Board of Management General Kamal Gunaratne made an inspection visit to the University Hospital of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (UH-KDU) situated in Werahera today (Dec 01).

KDU Vice Chancellor Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris received the visiting dignitaries on their arrival at the venue and accompanied them to witness the operational aspects and amenities of the fully-fledged hospital.

State Minister and the Defence Secretary also took time to exchange pleasantries with some inmates those receiving treatment, during their visit to the inpatient wards. 

A meeting was also convened following the programme in order to discuss the facts in length and several key issues were taken for deliberation over the table.

Yesterday (Nov 30), President Ranil Wickremesinghe chaired a meeting at the President's Office regarding the use of resources to gain maximum benefit and the plans afoot to meet the future necessities of the UH-KDU.

Additional Secretary (Defence) Dhammika Wijayasinghe, Director Medical Services, Senior Medical Officers of UH-KDU and Defence Ministry Officials were also present.
