Further speaking, he revealed that measures are being taken to award President’s Colours to the National Cadet Corps. Imparting inspiration he said that all their requirements would be fulfilled and requested the children to do better at the next Annual Camp and come within the top 5 teams.

Defence Secretary was received by the DSC Director Maj. Gen. WR Palihakkara (Retd) and Principal BA Aberatna on his arrival at the school.

The Defence Secretary presented certificates and medals to the members of the school’s NCC Cadet Platoons in recognition of their achievements.

The felicitation ceremony was held in order to recognize the school’s senior and junior Cadet Platoons’ achievement at this year’s National Cadet Corps annual camp. The senior platoon was placed 14th while the junior platoon was placed 8th in their respective assessment categories.

A large number of dignitaries including Additional Secretary (Defence Services) Jayantha Edirisinghe, senior Tri Forces, Police and NCC officers, Defence Ministry officials, members of the Board of Management and parents were present at the occasion.

The Defence Services School was declared open in January 2007 with 172 students and an academic staff of 8 teachers. Over the years the school has grown to include about 3450. In 2020 the first batch of students sat for the G.C.E (A/L) examination.

It was established mainly to ease the challenges faced by tri-forces and police personnel when seeking school admission for their children to popular schools.

The DSC is a National School.
