SLAF and Health Ministry sign MOU for Charter Aircraft Agreement
December 22, 2022A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Charter Aircraft Agreement was signed between the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) and the Ministry of Health at the SLAF Headquarters, yesterday (21). The MOU was signed following the Defence Ministry’s approval.
The event was held with the presence of Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana and Health Ministry Secretary Janaka Sri Chandraguptha, the SLAF sources said.
Accordingly the SLAF will provide aircraft on mobile charter basis to airlift remains of deceased persons for organ retrieval on the request of the Health Ministry.
Further, SLAF will utilize its air assets including C-130, AN-32, MA-60, Y-12, MI-17, Bell-412, Bell-212 and Bell-206 for such airlifting operations under this MOU, the SLAF added.
Health Ministry’s Additional Secretary (Medical Services) Dr. Sunil De Alwis, SLAF Director Air Operations Air Vice Marshal Bandhu Edirisinghe, Director Legal Air Commodore Sureka Dias Health Ministry’s Director Medical Services, Dr. Ayanthi Karunarathne, Senior Registrar (Medical Services), Dr. Avanthi Rupasinghe and Chief Legal Officer, AR Ahamed were also present at the event.
