Educational scholarships for children of Army families

Sri Lanka Army recently presented a group of children of Army personnel with educational scholarships during a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters.

According to Army media, these scholarships were presented to children from Army families who had performed well at the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination.

These incentives were presented with the intention of assisting these children with their higher education. Army’s Directorate of Welfare supported by the State Mortgage and Investment Bank and Dialog Axiata awarded 8 scholarships, each worth Rs. 120,000.00 for a period of one year. In addition, 23 students have been selected for receipt of smartphones.
 
A group of Army personnel who had successfully completed National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 4 and 3 courses in several disciplines at the Ranaviru Resource Centre (RRC) in Hekittha were presented with certificates at the ceremony held at the Army Headquarters with the presence of Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage recently (27 Dec).

Director General, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) of Sri Lanka Dr K.A Lalithadeera, and Army Chief of Staff, Major General C.D Weerasuriya were also present at the occasion.
