SL Contingent in Mali receive Force Commander's Commendation
December 30, 2022Sri Lanka Army troops serving the Combat Convoy Company (CCC-4), deployed under the United Nations (UN) Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) were recently awarded “Force Commander's Commendation” certificates.
MINUSMA Force Commander Lt. Gen. C.J. Kees Matthijssen who arrived at the CCC in Gao, Mali commended the outstanding, professional and dedicated role performed by the SL troops and awarded them the Commendation certificates, the Army sources stated.
The Sri Lankan CCC-4 troops in Mali have been providing security for logistic convoys under trying circumstances having carried out operations covering more than 5346 km while providing security to 154 fuel bowsers and 115 cargo trucks despite life-threatening risks and adverse weather and inhospitable terrains, the Army also stated.
