A total of 13,831 PCR tests conducted on Monday

Following the confirmation of 703 coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (December 08), the number of cases has increased up to 28,579 in the island, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

All the cases were locally identified and 371 of them were from Colombo District, 102 from Gampaha District and 64 from Kaluthara District the NOCPCO confirmed today (December 08).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 25,021 and out of them, a total of 17,396 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

A total of 13,831 PCR tests were conducted on Monday (07), NOCPCO also said.

Two coronavirus victims were reported during the last 24 hours, and those were reported from Colombo.

Accordingly, the Epidemiology Unit says the country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 142.

A total of 6,878 persons are isolated in military-managed 64 quarantine centres as of today, NOCPCO also said.
