Army renovates historic Municipal Building in Galle
January 20, 2023Sri Lanka Army renovated the historically valuable Galle Municipal Hall building that traces its history to the 1800s and vested it in the authorities recently during an occasion graced by the Prime Minister Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena.
Troops of the 10 (V) Corps of Engineer Service (CES) Regiment commenced the renovation project in the year 2020 with their expertise and labour and the Municipal Council provided financial patronage that cost about Rs 76 million, the Army sources said.
The project was initiated on the directions of the Army Commander at the request of the Galle Mayor.
Senior Officers including Colonel Commandant of the CES and Director of Engineering Services and Other Ranks were present during the occasion, the SLA confirmed.
