Deegawapi Stupa restoration project Progress reviewed

A progress review meeting was convened at the Defence Ministry to discuss on the Deegawapiya Stupa restoration project last evening (08 Dec).

Defence Secretary and Head of ‘Archaeological Heritage Management Presidential Task Force’ (PTF) for Eastern Province, Maj. Gen. (Retd) Kamal Gunaratne chaired the yesterday’s meeting convened at the ministry.

During the meeting, manufacturing and provision of standard bricks, depositing of sacred relics, time planning, estimation, financing, logistics, administration, supervision, labour support, waste management, and the recording of daily basis progress were also discussed over the table with reference to the entrusted tasks to Sri Lanka Army, Civil Security Department (CSD), and the Department of Archaeology.

Director General CSD Rear Admiral (Retd) Ananda Peiris, Director General of Archaeology Department Prof. Senerath Dissanayake, Commander Security Forces (East) Maj. Gen. JC Gamage, Presidential Task Force Secretary Jeewanthi Senanayaka, Defence Ministry Officials, Technical Officers, Civil Engineers, Project and Financial Managers were also present at the meeting.
