Defence Secretary reviews Independence Day parade rehearsals
February 02, 2023Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne reviewed the rehearsals of the forthcoming Independence Day parade at the Galle Face Green, Colombo today morning (Feb 2).
Gen. Gunaratne accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff and Tri-Forces Chiefs witnessed the comprehensive flow of the event along with its preparations and carefully reviewed the parading, military formations, armoured vehicles, security and other arrangements at the venue.
Gen. Gunaratne also delved into the preparations in place and issued necessary directions for improvements during the session.
Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Shavendra Silva, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Vikum Liyanage, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, Director General of Civil Security Department Maj. Gen. Ranjan Lamahewage (Retd), Director General of Sri Lanka Coast Guard Rear Admiral Pujitha Vithana, heads of state institutions, state officials, organizing committees and senior military officials were also present.
