Army Cyclists Championed 'National Independence' Cycle Tour
February 09, 2023The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) cyclists secured the overall championship of the 75th National Independence Day cycle tour, recently organized by the Presidential Secretariat, together with the State Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government and the Ministry of Sports .
This 571.5 km long national level attractive tour participated by over 100 well-trained cyclists from all corners of the island commenced on 31st January at Point Pedro covered many provinces of the country passing Medawachchiya, Mihintale, Mahiyanganaya and Wellawaya to reach its destination at Matara on 3rd February, the SLA sources stated.
The entire event exhibited the determination and courage to carry the 'Team Championship' in addition to individual emergence and Chairman, Army Cycling Committee and Director General, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Maj. Gen. Ranjan Jayasekara closely monitored the racing movements throughout. the SLA added.
