‘Sindurala’ adjudged best navy ship
February 16, 2023Sri Lanka Navy Ship ‘Sindurala’ has been adjudged as the Best Ship in 2022 at the SL Navy’s annual Best Ship competition. According to SL Navy media sources, SLNS Sindurala, SLNS Mihikatha and P 414 have been named as the top performers in the major and minor vessel, and craft categories respectively at the competition.
This annual competition is held to adjudge the major and minor vessels and craft in the Navy’s fleet. The crew of every vessel and craft is tested on its naval knowledge, rigging skills, rules of the road at sea, points obtained in operational sea training evaluations and inter-ship sports encounters and several other aspects during the competition, it says.
Commanding Officers and Officer in Command of the two ships and the craft were presented with plaques by the Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at a ceremony held recently (Feb 13), it says.
Senior naval officers including Deputy Chief of Staff and Director General Operations Rear Admiral Pradeep Rathnayake, Director General Sri Lanka Coast Guard were also present on the occasion.
