Prime Minister declares open KDU War Memorial
February 18, 2023The newly built War Memorial at the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) was declared open by Hon. Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday (Feb 17).
Defence Secretary Gen. Kamal Gunaratne was also present at the occasion.
The new War Memorial was built with contributions of the KDU Alumni Association and the KDU as a tribute to all War Heroes who made the supreme sacrifice to the safeguard the motherland from the cruel clutches of LTTE terrorists.
Chancellor of the KDU Gen. Shantha Kottegoda, Vice Chancellor Maj. Gen. Milinda Peiris, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Shavendra Silva, Commanders of the Army and Navy, Air Force Chief of Staff, senior retired and serving tri forces and police officers, members of the KDU alumni association and academic and administrative staff members of the KDU were present at the occasion.
