Army set off flavoured fresh milk production
December 10, 2020Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has produced 1,000 fresh milk bottles at the Kandakadu SLA farm under the directives of SLA Agriculture and Livestock Directorate recently.
Diary productions are scheduled to be distributed through Army Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU)-run welfare shops among the troops.
Meanwhile, 300 millilitre pasteurized milk bottles flavoured vanilla and chocolate and as plain milk are also available for sale across all key SLA-run welfare outlets in Kendalanda, Manning Town, Rukmalgama, Panaluwa, Jawatte, Wattala and through regimental welfare shops.
The project envisioned to become self-sufficient in all essential commodities under a notion of the Army Commander supported by Army’s SVU is planning to produce 1,000 bottles per day at Kandakadu Army Farm while employing 35 Army personnel trained for dairy products.
SLA Agriculture and Livestock Directorate has also planned to enhance the project to Army's Niraviya farm, Tambuttegama concerning the growing demand.
