SL Coast Guard turns 13 today
March 04, 2023The Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) which was established by the Coast Guard Act No. 41 of 2009, under the Ministry of Defence, celebrates its 13th Anniversary today (Mar 04).
Their operational duties were ceremonially inaugurated on Mar 4, 2010 under the headship of Rear Admiral L D Dharmapriya who was the founding Director General.
Since its inception, the SLCG has evolved into a professional maritime law enforcement agency as of today while acquiring numerous assets, capabilities and competencies.
A number of celebratory events have been organized giving prominence to religious activities, social welfare and customs in parallel with the anniversary day.
