West Troops Help to Maintain Essential Health Services in Hospitals
March 10, 2023On a request made by hospital authorities, troops of the 14 and the 61 Infantry Divisions under the Security Force HQ-West on Wednesday (8) provided their emergency assistance to maintain essential health services after a trade union action of minor employees in hospitals affected the smooth conduct of their services.
As per directions of the Commander, Security Forces-West, both General Officers Commandings of 14 and 61 Infantry Divisions in coordination with their Brigade Commanders directed the troops to nearest hospitals affected by TU actions.
14 Battalion Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of the 142 Infantry Brigade, 1 Sri Lanka National Guard of the 143 Infantry Brigade and the 2 (v) Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry of the144 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division, promptly provided their utmost assistance for the proper conduct of the Colombo National Hospital, Kurunegala Teaching Hospital and Mulleriyawa Mental Hospital, respectively.
At the same time, troops of the 8 Gemunu Watch under the 611 Brigade of the 61 Infantry Division HQ were also promptly deployed to cover the essential duties at Balangoda Base Hospital, Eheliyagoda Base Hospital and Kalthota Hospital respectively.
Respective Commanding Officers of those Battalions closely monitored the Army's involvement during this emergency situation.
