Army setup a water purification plant for Vadamarachchi students and villagers
March 13, 2023The Sri Lanka Army (SLA) installed a Water Purification Plant recently facilitating purified drinking water to students of Aliyavalai Church of Ceylon Tamil Mix School and villagers in the Vadamarachchi East.
The purification plant was carried out with the expertise of the 12 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops serving under purview of 553 Infantry Brigade of the 55 Infantry Division, with the financial support of the Sri Lankan community in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the SLA sources stated.
Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna Maj. Gen. Swarna Bothota worked closely with the Sri Lankan community in the United Arab Emirates to make this project a reality considering the plight of deserving students and the community, the SLA confirmed.
The General Officer Commanding, 55 Infantry Division, Maj. Gen. Prasanna Gunaratne, Mr. George Hettiarachchi representing the Sri Lankan community in the United Arab Emirates, State Officials and troops were present at the inauguration of the project.
