The newly appointed commandant assumed duties
March 21, 2023Major General DGS Senarath Yapa RWP RSP ndu the present Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army took office as the 2nd Commandant (Overlooking) of the National Defence College (NDC) recently (March 16).
On arrival, he was received by the Secretary, National Defence College Brigadier WASR Wijedasa WWV RSP USP ndc psc and then the Commandant was honoured with a colourful Guard Turnout accorded by the troops of Sri Lanka Army. Amidst religious rites, the Commandant took over duties in his office at an auspicious time. Afterwards, the Commandant appeared for the formal group photograph along with the permanent staff officers of the NDC.
In his speech after the All-Ranks tea, the Commandant extended his gratitude to the previous Commandant for pioneering the NDC into the stage that it stands today. Further, he emphasized the need for uplifting the college with cutting-edge systems to meet international standards. He further highlighted the need for discipline as military personnel for success and stated the importance of maintaining the work-life balance in the face of an economic crisis.
