New Military Liaison Officer of MOD assumes office
March 21, 2023Brigadier Dhammika Welagedara RSP USP psc IG, the newly appointed Military Liaison Officer (MLO) of the Ministry of Defence assumed office at the auspicious time a short while ago today (Mar 21).
Brig. Welagedara was serving as the Deputy MLO before being elevated to hold the new office following the relinquishing of duties by Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, the outgoing MLO.
Brig. Welagedara has served in various prestigious appointments in the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) during his unblemished career spanning over 33 years.
His predecessor, Maj. Gen. Dinesh Nanayakkara made a farewell call on the Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne last evening prior to his departure in order to take up his new assignment in the SLA.
The Defence Secretary praised the services of the outgoing MLO during a cordial discussion and also extended warm wishes for his future endeavours.
A memento was also presented to Maj. Gen. Nanayakkara to mark the occasion.
