Tri-Forces receive military equipment from U.S.
March 28, 2023A consignment of US government-grant military equipment was handed over to the Sri Lankan Military yesterday (27 Mar) during an event organized at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake in view of enhancing partnership capability in terms of Air Mobility, Maritime Interdiction and Peacekeeping Operations.
Defence Attaché at the Embassy of the United States in Sri Lanka, Lieutenant Colonel Tony Anthony symbolically handed over the equipment to the Senior Officers represented by Sri Lanka Army (SLA), Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) and Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF).
The handing over of the equipment marks the 75th Anniversary of US-Sri Lankan Diplomacy and the event was held under the patronage of the US Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Julie Chung and SLAF Commander Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, the SLAF sources said.
The SLA’s Chief Field Engineer Maj. Gen. MK Jayawardena, SLN’s Western Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral Suresh de Silva and SLAF Director General of Air Operations Air Vice Marshal Sampath Wickremaratne and Assistant Defence Attaché of the US Embassy, Mr. Seth Nevins, were also present at the occasion.
