SL Army and Police assist in fuel distribution
March 30, 2023Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troops lent assistance to the distribution of fuel at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation terminal in Kolonnawa on Tuesday (28) afternoon after a trade union action disrupted its distribution operations.
According to SL Army media sources, 20 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops, together with 2 (V) SLLI troops of the Security Force HQ - West (SFHQ-West) assisted in the distribution of fuel while troops of the Quick Reaction Teams of the 14 Infantry Division provided security to the oil refinery and fuel distribution bowsers and facilitated their vehicular movement to avert delays.
Acting under instructions of the Army Commander, troops of 144 Infantry Brigade under the guidelines of Commander, SF-West, General Officer Commanding, 14 Infantry Division and the 144 Infantry Brigade Commander, 20 SLLI and 2 (V) SLLI troops provided security to fuel bowsers, it says.
The Police had also provided assistance following coordination done by the Security Force HQ – West, it says.
