Army riders clinch places at Magastota hill Climb
April 12, 2023Several Sri Lanka Army (SLA) riders managed to enter the medals tally at the recently held Magastota Hill Climb race in Nuwara Eliya.
The Army media said participants of the SLA Motor Sports Committee beat a few hundred riders and won places in three events.
Corporal BI Maduranga of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police finished first in the SM-Super Motard 250/450 cc open event and also won the 3rd place in Sport Touring 600cc open event.
Corporal JMS Jayalath of Corps of Engineer Services secured the 3rd place in 125cc up to 250 cc (speed trail bike open event) while Private LBD Senevirathne of Gajaba Regiment also finished 3rd in the SM - Super Motard 250/450cc open event, it says.
The Mahagastota Hill Climb is one of the longest running motorsports events in Sri Lanka and it is held during the annual ‘April Season’ in the popular holiday hill station of Nuwara Eliya.
