SL Navy organized ‘Navy Cup Sailing Regatta - 2023’ held
April 24, 2023Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) organized ‘Navy Cup Sailing Regatta - 2023’ was successfully held off Galle Face in Colombo during the weekend (22 & 23 Apr). According to SLN media, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera graced the event as the chief guest.
Races were held under several categories including ILCA 4 Class, ILCA 6 Class, ILCA 7 Class, Wind Surfing, Enterprise Class and GP 14 Class with the assistance of the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (YASL), it says.
The Regatta drew more than seventy male and female competitors and 48 boats from sailing clubs around the island. Winners were presented with awards by the chief guest. This sailing Regatta is hosted by the SLN in memory of late Admiral Clancy Fernando.
Sri Lanka Navy Sailing Club emerged as the overall winner and took home the Admiral Clancy Fernando Memorial Trophy.
Wife of the late Admiral Clancy Fernando, Mrs Monika Fernando, former Navy Commanders, senior navy officers and many sailing enthusiasts were present at the occasion.
