Army Chess players secure championship at DICF
June 12, 2023The Sri Lanka Army team secured the Government and Mercantile Team category championship recently at ‘10th Damso International Chess Festival (DICF) 2023’, competed by over 500 male and female players from Sri Lanka and abroad.
The Awarding Ceremony of the six-day long championship organized by the Old Boys’ Chess Association of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda got underway at Lavanga Resort at Hikkaduwa, the SLA sources stated.
The Sri Lanka Navy ‘B’ and Sri Lanka Navy ‘A’ teams became 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively at the Festival held from 27 to 30 May.
DICF 2023 is recognized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, Asian Chess Federation and World Chess Federation, the SLA added.
