Landslide Warnings upped in several areas

           •    NBRO updates Landslide Warnings  

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a Level 3 (Red) landslide warning to  Deraniyagala and Dehiovita areas in the Kegalle district. Yatiyanthota in the same district has been issued with a Level 2 (Amber) warning.
 
Due to monsoonal rains continuing to lash across the island the NBRO has issued landslide warnings to many areas in the Colombo, Kegalle and Ratnapura districts.

In the Ratnapura district Elapatha, Nivithigala, Kalawana, Eheliyagoda and Ratnapura areas have a Level 2 (Amber) warning while Kiriella, Ayagama, Kuruwita and Pelmadulla in the district come under a Level 1 (Yellow) warning.

Seethawaka area in the Colombo district has been issued with a Level 1 (Yellow) landslide warning by the NBRO.

Meanwhile the Met. Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. Several spells of showers will occur in the North-Western province.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or nigh, it sast.

The highest rainfall of 135 mm was reported from Laksakanda in the Ratnapura district. Northern and eastern parts of the country remained warm with Mullaithivu recording the maximum temperature of 36.8°C.
