Indian submarine visits Colombo
June 19, 2023The Indian Navy submarine ‘INS Vagir’ arrived in the country today (Jun 19). According to SL Navy media, ‘INS Vagir’ arrived at the port of Colombo making a formal visit.
The 67.5m long submarine carries a crew of 60 and is commanded by Commander Divakar S.
The crew of ‘INS Vagir’ and SLN personnel will be taking part in a yoga event at the Western Naval Command, on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga. A group of personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy is expected to visit the submarine to take part in an awareness programme on its operational features, it says.
The crew of the visiting submarine is scheduled to take part in several activities organized by the Sri Lanka Navy, with a view to promoting cooperation between both navies. They will also visit some tourist attractions in the country, it says.
‘INS Vagir’ is scheduled to leave the island on Thursday (Jun 22).
