Army ventures into manufacturing military automobiles
December 15, 2020Making a giant leap forward, Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME) Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) has established a new facility dedicated for the manufacture of military automobiles in Kosgama recently.
Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva was the Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony of the new facility.
Productions of the new facility are expected to be utilized for the national security endeavours including nation building process and also expected to meet the necessities of overseas missions, SLA said.
Accordingly, ‘AVALON 6x6’, ‘AIMOV 4x4’ and ‘Uni-COLT’ are some of the automobiles manufactured at the facility.
‘AVALON 6x6’ is capable of gathering artificial intelligence with real-time information from any terrain with the aid of its sophisticated accessories including cameras, drones, bullet-proof fittings and jammers, SLA also said.
