Troops in the East renovate pre-school

A pre-school in Pudur, Kathiraveli was renovated by Sri Lanka Army troops after its plight was brought to their attention. According to SL Army media, 233 Infantry Brigade troops of the 23 Infantry Division under the Security Force HQ - East (SFHQ-E) renovated the 'Saraswathi' preschool building in Pudur.

Troops refurbished the classrooms including the furniture and other facilities of the pre-school. In addition foundation stone was also laid for a kitchen for the pre-school it says. Renovation work was carried out with financial assistance by well-wishers. Construction work would be handled by the Corps of 3 Engineer Service Regiment.

The pre-school children were also presented with gift packs during a simple ceremony held to handover the renovated building and its facilities, it says.

General Officer commanding of 23 Infantry Division, Brigadier KVNP Premarathne and the Commander of 233 Infantry Brigade, Colonel AKCS De Silva graced the handing over ceremony attended by military officers, state officials and a gathering of local residents.
