The Consultant Genitourinary Surgeon at the Colombo Army Hospital, Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Kugadas Sutharshan who has earlier entered the Guinness Book by removing the world’s largest and heaviest kidney stone (calculus) has been nominated for ‘American’s Inspiring Urologist of the Year’ award, presented by United Research Council of the USA on Wednesday (23 August).
‘The American Awards’ nominating Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Kugadas Sutharshan for securing the International Talented Personality Awards of the American Awards - 2023 has honoured achievers who play a prominent role in their respective fields Individual/ Institution/ Organization for unique skills, excellence, experience and creativity.
Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Kugadas Sutharshan currently serving the Colombo Army Hospital performs both endo-urological and laparoscopic surgical operations with regard to kidney ureter and bladder and his removal of the world’s largest and heaviest kidney stone (calculus) through a major surgery occurred on Thursday 1 June 2023 at the Colombo Army Hospital qualified him to enter the Guinness World Records.
‘The American Awards’ while naming him for the year’s most inspiring Urologist of the Year Award claims that they are pleased to honour ‘such great personalities with their international standards and let those achievers success be known by the people around the worldwide’.
