Colonel Nalin Herath assumes office as Director (Research) of INSS
September 04, 2023The newly appointed Director (Research) of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) Colonel Nalin Herath assumed office during a simple ceremony at the INSS office at Suhurupaya in Battaramulla today (Sep 04).
Colonel Nalin Herath was appointed as the Director (Research) of the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) with effect from 01st September 2023 by the Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne.
Col. Herath has been appointed to the new position in addition to his present appointment as Director Media and Spokesman of the Ministry of Defence.
Col. Herath received his appointment letter from the Additional Secretary (Defence Services) Jayantha Edirisinghe last week (Aug 31).
Col. Nalin Herath is an illustrious army officer who counts over 28 years of unblemished military service. He has held several senior staff and administrative posts and also is a much sought after instructor especially in International Relations. He is an expert in managing and leading multi-national, inter-agency teams and building strategic partnerships, able to operate in challenging environments during UN Peacekeeping Missions.
He is a motivational speaker and lecturer who also has authored two books including the Globe in a Nutshell and Geological Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone.
