Civil Security Department celebrates its 17th Anniversary
September 15, 2023The Civil Security Department (CSD) celebrated its 17th Anniversary with pride under the auspices of CSD Director General Air Vice Marshal Roshan Senaka Bianwila at the CSD Headquarters premises on 13 September.
In line with the Anniversary, the CSD conducted a number of programmes including a Sambuddha Pooja and Pirith Chanting held at Molpe Sri Gangarama Temple invoking blessings to the CSD war heroes, its members and their families.
The ‘National Home Guard Service’ established in the mid-1980s to protect the threatened villages during the troubled period, was later restructured forming the ‘Civil Security Department’ in 2006 with retirement benefits to its members.
During the war, 545 CSD personnel had sacrificed their lives and 423 disabled.
