Mullaittivu Commander Joins UN International Day of Peace Ceremony
October 02, 2023Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces – Mullaitivu (SF-MLT), together with Hon K. K Masthan, Minister of State for Rural Development attended the United Nations International Day of Peace ceremony as chief guests, organized by the Universal Peace Federation at the Mullaittivu Town Hall on Thursday (21 Sep).
Mr Alvin Pang from Singapore participated in the event representing the Universal Peace Federation during which 150 little children in the area received pairs of school shoes. In addition, all the attendees were entertained to snacks and refreshments, supplied by the organizers.
Prior to the ceremony, Commander, SF-MLT inaugurated the planting of 100 saplings of economic value under the Mullaittivu Re-greening Project in the surroundings around the Mullaittivu new bus stand, still under construction.
Major General S. Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 68 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a large crowd of civilians took part in those events.
