Colonel Nalin Herath RSP assumes duties as Overlooking Director General of INSS
October 06, 2023Acting Director (Research) Colonel Nalin Herath at the Institute of National Security Studies (INSS) assumed office of overlooking Director General of the INSS on 5th October 2023, following the appointment made by Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne.
Notably, Col. Herath concurrently retains his existing appointment as the Director of Media and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence.
Col. Herath's distinguished military career spans over 28 years, marked by an unblemished record and significant achievements in various senior staff and administrative roles. He is highly regarded as an expert in International Relations and is renowned for his proficiency in leading multinational and inter-agency teams, as well as for forging strategic partnerships, even in challenging environments encountered during UN Peacekeeping Missions.
Furthermore, Col. Herath is a motivational speaker, lecturer, and accomplished author, with two highly successful published books to his name, "Globe in a Nutshell" and "Geological Alliances and Rivalries Set in Stone." His multifaceted expertise and dedication to service makes him an invaluable addition to the INSS leadership team.
