Met. Department says rains likely to continue further
October 12, 2023The Met. Department in its latest weather forecast issued today (Oct 12) says showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island during the afternoon or night. Fairly heavy showers of above 75 mm can be expected at some places in the Uva, Central and Eastern provinces.
The report also forecasts the possibility of showers in the western and Southern provinces during the morning hours as well.
Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the morning.
A maximum rainfall of 105.8mm was recorded at Bagawantalawa during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a Level 3 Red landslide warning to Hakmana, Pitabeddara ans Akuressa Divisional Secretariat Divisions areas in the Matara district.
The NBRO landslide warning also includes several areas in the Badulla, Galle, Hambantota, Kalutara, Kegalle, Matara and Ratnapura districts as well.
