Indian Navy Advanced Light Helicopter arrives for training

October 23, 2023

An Indian Navy's Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) arrived in Sri Lanka recently (Oct. 19) to conduct training for Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) pilots and Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) personnel in ship-borne helicopter operations, says Sri Lanka Air Force media.

This collaborative training initiative is part of the ongoing cooperation between the Indian and Sri Lankan armed forces. This training deployment aims to familiarize SLAF pilots with ALH and provide co-pilot experience. The training team will also engage in extensive Deck Landing Practice on-board Sri Lankan Navy ships as it is vital to hone deck landing skills, it says.

The deployment of the indigenous ALH helicopter from the Indian Navy to Sri Lanka is a continuation of the training efforts that commenced in March (23) last year (2022). During the previous deployment, SLAF pilots received co-pilot training and SLN personnel received essential deck landing training, it further says.
