Colombo Defence Services College student excels in swimming
November 01, 2023Buddhima Samadhi Damsarani Senarathne of Defence Services College (DSC), Colombo set a new record clocking 2:45:69 minutes in the under-18 Girls’ 200-meter backstroke event at the recently held All Island National School Games Swimming Championships.
She also won silver medals in both 50 m and 100 m (backstroke) event at the championship. Buddhima stole the spotlight with her exceptional performance winning silver medals in the 50 m and 200 m and a bronze in the 100 m selection trials (U-18) for the South Asian age group swimming championships conducted by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union.
She had also won gold in the 200 m and two silver medals in the 50 m and 100 m (U- 18 back stroke) events at the Western Province Swimming Championships 2023.
Buddhima has collected 24 medals including 10 gold medals for her alma mater at national level competitions since 2014.
