708 persons recovered and left hospitals within past 24 hours – NOCPCO

A total of 708 persons recovered from the Coronavirus have left hospitals and care centres during the last 24 hours, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated today (Dec 19).

The identification of 662 coronavirus positives during the last 24 hours has increased the number of cases in the island up to 36,048.

Two persons among the total positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans repatriated from overseas, while 259 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 79 from Gampaha District, 164 from Kalutara District and 158 persons from other districts, the NOCPCO confirmed today (December 19).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 32,376 and out of them 23,653 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

Meanwhile, the total arrived in the country today morning reads as 223 which included 163 persons from UAE, 14 persons from Malayasia, 119 persons from Qatar and 55 persons from India. They all will be referred to quarantine centres managed by Tri Forces.

NOCPCO said 15,286 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (Dec 18).

Five deaths have been reported during the past 24 hours. Accordingly, the country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 165.

A total of 7,837 persons are isolated in military-managed 78 quarantine centers as of today, NOCPCO also said.
