SFHQ Central Troops Clear Blocked Rail Track at Ohiya
November 28, 2023The upcountry railway operation line running from Colombo to Badulla was obstructed due to an earth-slip near Ohiya railway station during the morning hours on Tuesday (22 November) as a result of the torrential rainfall.
In response to the request of the railway authorities, a 20-member Army contingent on the instructions of Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces - Central, rushed to the location and cleared the earth mounds and rocks to facilitate the resumption of operations along the line. Employees of the Railway Department supported the move.
