‘Sri Lanka too is on a journey to achieve greater heights' – Defence Secretary

December 11, 2023

‘Military, traditionally associated with battle has played a crucial role in safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Sri Lanka. Our own experience fighting against the ruthless terrorist organization for nearly three decades has showcased both successful military leadership and instances where the leaders fell short in the battle field’.

Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne made these remarks while addressing the student officers of the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) at Sapugaskanda today (Dec 11).

The Commandant of DSCSC Major General Lasantha Rodrigo received the Defence Secretary and accompanied him to the Maroon Hall to address the graduands of Course No 17 prior to their graduation on December 14, 2023. Gen. Gunaratne shared his precious knowledge and enlightened the young career officers of Sri Lankan and foreign armed forces who will be completing their year-long Staff Course curriculum.

The lecture was attended by the Directing Staff of the DSCSC including Rear Admiral Thushara Karunatunga. At the end of the day's session, the DSCSC Commandant presented a memento to Gen. Gunaratne to mark his visit to the College.
