“Colours Nite - 2022” of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University
December 20, 2023Celebrating and honouring the achievements of 223 KDU sportsmen and sportswomen for their exceptional performance in sports during the year 2022, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) ceremonially conducted its “Colours Nite - 2022” on 12th December 2023 at the Auditorium of Faculty of Graduate Studies of KDU. General SHS Kottegoda (Retd) WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc, the Chancellor of KDU graced this historic event as the Chief Guest.
Rear Admiral HGU Dammika Kumara, VSV, USP, psc, MMaritime Pol, BSc (DS), Vice Chancellor of KDU; Major General LCR Jayasuriya RSP ndc psc, the Rector Southern Campus; Brigadier DCA Wickramasinghe USP USACGSC, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Administration) and the Chairman of the Sports Council of KDU; Air Cdre DRW. Jayawardena USP, MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MDS, MSSD, BA (Def Stu), nde (Ban), psc, the Rector Metropolitan Campus; Commodore SR Rupasena RWP RSP psc, the Rector Kurunegala Campus; Group Captain WASB Weerasekara USP psc, The Director of Sports of Sri Lanka Air Force; Professor KAS Dhammika, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic); Deans of Faculties; and members of the academic and military staff also participated in this significant Sports event of KDU.

The event was organized as a magnificent evening of recognizing the talents and determination manifested by the military and civilian undergraduates in uplifting the university to the crest and encouraging them to enhance their sporting talents and elevate them to higher levels. Further, KDU certificates were awarded in appreciation of the valuable contribution to KDU’s promotion of sports by the coaches of the respective sports. This event signifies the collective effort of all involved in uplifting sports at KDU.
