491 persons left hospitals yesterday after complete recovery from the virus

The total Coronavirus positives identified during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (December 20) stands at 618 and the total cases in the country increased to 36,666 the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated.

All the positives identified yesterday were Sri Lankans while 241 of them have been identified from Colombo District, 120 from Kaluthara District and 99 from Gampaha District, the NOCPCO confirmed today (December 20).

The number of infected persons associated with the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster increased to 32,994 and out of them, a total of 24,144 have left hospitals following complete recovery.

NOCPCO also stated that a total of 15,961 PCR tests were conducted yesterday (19) and  the day’s total recoveries from the virus during the last 24 hours ending at 06.00 a.m. today (20) stands at 491.

Meanwhile, the total arrived in the country today morning reads as 173 which included 31 persons from Qatar, 83 from Japan and 59 from the UAE. They all will be directed for quarantining.

The total recovery from the virus in the country rose to 27,551 persons. 8,944 Coronavirus patients are undergoing medical treatments while 7,316 persons are quarantining under 79 centres managed by Tri-Forces, NOCPCO added.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll has increased to 171 along with six Coronavirus deaths reported during the last 24 hours.
