SLN assists to arrest commercial explosives
December 20, 2020The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN), Eastern Naval Command in coordination with the Headquarters Police Dambulla conducted a special search operation in Bulanawewa area on Dec 19 and nabbed a suspect transporting 175 water gel sticks, in a motor vehicle, SLN said.
The 34-year-old suspect was a resident of the Galewela area.
The Navy suspects that the water gel, which is issued as a commercial explosive for quarrying related industries, was transported to be used for illegal fishing.
The suspect, along with explosive items and a motor vehicle, was handed over to the Dambulla Police for investigation.
The operation was conducted adhering to health and safety guidelines stipulated for the prevention of COVID-19.
