Defence Services College Students excel at Intl Open Taekwondo Asian Championship
January 04, 2024Colombo Defence Services College (DSC) students won a gold medal and three bronze medals with exceptional performance during the 2023 International Open Taekwondo Asian Championship held recently at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
A large number of athletes representing Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Brunei, Nepal, Turkey and Malaysia participated in this tournament held from 06 to 11 December 2023.
08 students of DSC represented the Sri Lankan team under the guidance of the College Taekwondo Instructor and International Taekwondo Referee Shiran Dilruk.
Aditha Raviru won the gold medal in the 15-17 age group under 50 kg male weight class. Aloka Mihiran and Himaya Hansali won bronze medals under male 50-60 kg weight class and female 45 kg weight class event respectively under 17 age category while Sinadhi Sadanya won a bronze medal in the under 17 girls green belt category.
The closing ceremony and prize giving ceremony of the tournament was attended by many dignitaries including Korean Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ms. Miyon Lee and International Taekwondo Association President Dr. Chungwon Choue.
