Navy provides assistance to G.C.E Advanced Level candidates in flood affected areas
January 08, 2024Sri Lanka Navy relief teams mobilized to serve flood affected communities in the Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa districts continue to provide assistance to students appearing for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination.
According to SL Navy media, exam candidates in Mailapanchaweli of Kinniya and Soluwadduwan areas as well as Verukal and Muthuchenei areas of Lankapatuna in the Trincomalee district and Somawathiya area in the Polonnaruwa district are being provided transport in small boats to enabling them passage to exam centres.
Since 31st December, the Navy has also been able to transfer 2495 flood victims in the Trincomalee and Polonnaruwa districts to safe locations.
Responding to requests from the Department of Irrigation, Naval personnel have also provided assistance to reinforce tank bunds and clean sluice gates of several irrigation tanks in the Trincomalee region, it says.
