Successful Completion of Exercise 'Seagull' 2024

The Amphibious Training Exercise ‘Seagull’ commenced in the Northern Sea area at Palaitivu Island in the Jaffna peninsula from 08 to 11 Jan, involving Tri-Services troops in the area.

The exercise aimed to train troops in the induction of an amphibious task force, establishing and securing a beachhead, landing the main force, neutralizing opposing forces, rescuing hostages, casualty evacuation, and providing Humanitarian Assistance for Disaster Relief. The exercise involved 42 Officers and 360 Other Ranks from the Army, 62 Officers and 618 Other Ranks from the Navy, and 03 Officers and 09 Other Ranks from the Air Force.

The final exercise took place on Thursday (11 Jan) and it was witnessed by Major General S.W.B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 51 Infantry Division and Rear Admiral T.M.A.A Thennakoon WWV RSP ndu, the Commander Northern Naval Area. Senior Officers and Officers from the area were also present.
