Defence Secretary graces book launching ceremony
February 10, 2024- ‘Yuga Yuga’ written by Col. Dilipa Serasinghe launched with Defence Secretary’s presence
Defence Secretary General Kamal Gunaratne graced the launching of the book "Yuga Yuga" authored by Colonel Dilipa Serasinghe of the Sri Lanka Army Military Police yesterday (Feb. 09). The ceremony was held at the Government Information Department Auditorium last evening.
The book is based on legendary stories dating back to 103 BC, during the period of the Walagamba dynasty.
While speaking as the chief guest Gen. Gunaratne recalled the times during the war where the author was also serving as a junior officer. He praised the author’s literary excellence and good conduct as well.
Senior Professor Attanayake M. Herath delivered the keynote address while the book review was done by Lecturer Ajith Krishantha Seram.
Major General Harindra Peiris, Sri Lanka Army Chief of Staff, Major General Indu Samarakoon, Army Deputy Chief of Staff, Major General Clifford de Soyza, Colonel Commandant of the Army Military Police and Major General Dammika Welagedara, Military Liaison Officer of the Ministry of Defence also attended the ceremony.
