SLNS Samudura leaves for Maldives to take part in Exercise Dosti - XVI
February 21, 2024Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Samudura today (20th February 2024) left for the Maldives from the port of Colombo to take part in Exercise Dosti - XVI. The trilateral exercise ‘Dosti’ is scheduled to be held in Male from 22nd to 25th February.
The trilateral exercise ‘Dosti’ aims to enhance cooperation, strengthen friendship, improve mutual operational capability, and develop interoperability among the Coast Guard personnel of India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
Before the departure of SLNS Samudura, Deputy Area Commander Western Naval Area, Commodore Dammika Wijewardena expressed his best wishes to the Commanding Officer of SLNS Samudura, Captain Nalinda Kumara who will take part in Exercise Dosti - XVI.
Participating in this nature of exercises will allow the Sri Lanka Navy to enhance cooperation and interoperability with other maritime stakeholders in the region. Also, it offers numerous advantages, including acquiring new knowledge about maritime operations, exchanging strategies and experiences, identifying emerging maritime challenges in the Indian Ocean region, and collaboratively finding solutions for them.
