25th Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya flagged off in Colombo
March 04, 2024“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2024”, the 25th edition of the cycle race organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) in line with the 73rd Anniversary, commenced yesterday (03 March) at Gall Face Green, Colombo under the auspices of the Air Force Commander Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa.
Over 104 male participants including both locals and foreigners took part in this year's race, with a four-man team representing the Indian Air Force. The competitors reached Kandy yesterday on their first lap, covering 104.3 km.
The SLAF sources states that the race will continue through scenic routes and conclude on 07th March 2024 in Jaffna after five laps.The Women’s race will commence in Mankulam on 07 March and be scheduled to conclude in Jaffna, covering approximately 97 km. The 25th edition will culminate in a grand awards ceremony in Jaffna on the same day.
