54 Infantry Division Troops Assist Devotees during Annual 'Pada Yathra' Pilgrimage
March 11, 2024Troops of the 4 Gajaba Regiment and the 8 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment provided drinking water for devotees of the annual ‘Pada Yathra’ on 08 March 2024 at several locations during the journey.
The annual foot pilgrimage, coinciding with Good Friday in the Catholic tradition, commenced on 06 March 2024, following a special service held at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church in Mannar. The journey concluded on 08 March 2024, at the Vavuniya Komarasakulam Catholic Church, followed by a special service led by Mannar Bishop Lionel Emmanuel Fernando.
The programme was conducted on the instructions of Major General K.M.P.S.B. Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding, 54 Infantry Division under the supervision of the Commander, 542 Infantry Brigade.
