Sri Lanka Army Rescues University Student at Alagalla Mountain
March 11, 2024Troops of 8 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) of 611 Infantry Brigade on 10 March rescued a university student who had fallen down the treacherous slopes of Alagalla Mountain in Kegalle.
The incident happened when a group of 10 students from University of Wayaba, who had been on a night camp excursion on the 09 March, encountered an unforeseen mishap. One of the students had fallen down a steep cliff, sustaining severe injuries.
Upon receiving the incident, troops of the 8 SLSR swiftly mobilized the location where the accident had occurred under the guidance of Commanding Officer, 8 SLSR, Major S.K.L.P.K Silva RWP RSP USP. Afterwards, the troops promptly provided necessary medical assistance and stabilized his condition. The rescued student was transferred to Mawanella Hospital for further medical treatment.
