State Minister of Defence Addresses SF-J Troops

Honourable Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, the State Minister of Defence, took some time off to speak to troops of the Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) at the Palaly Airport on 09 March 2024, en route to the Air Force ‘Tattoo’ in Jaffna.

The visiting State Minister was warmly welcomed by Major General M.G.W.W.W.M.C.B. Wickramasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander of SF-J, and appreciated him for making timely decisions necessary for the betterment of Army troops.

In his address, the Minister lauded the troops' dedication and outlined the government's provision of welfare facilities. He also discussed forthcoming measures for the career progression of Army personnel.

Towards the end, the Commander, SF-J presented a special memento to the State Minister as a token of appreciation. Before departing, the Minister planted a tamarind plant at Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and penned his appreciation in the visitors’ book.

Following his participation in the ‘Air Force Tattoo’, the State Minister joined a field visit to witness seven kovils located in the ‘High Security Zone’ of the Palaly Army Cantonment, which are to be released for Hindu devotees in due course.

In the evening, the State Minister visited the CIMIC park at the 51 Infantry Division and witnessed its activities. He also distributed gift packs among children who participated in various sports activities and shared thoughts with them.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in those events.
